What is buy-side advisory?
Buy-side advisory is M&A advisory that represents the acquirer rather than the seller. A buy-side advisor helps an investor, typically a private equity firm or family office, source acquisition targets, evaluate them, conduct diligence, and execute transactions. Agentive Capital provides independent buy-side advisory focused exclusively on tech-enabled business services.
Who does Agentive Capital work with?
We work with a select number of private equity sponsors and family offices at any given time. Our clients are typically pursuing platform acquisitions or add-on strategies in tech-enabled business services and want sector-deep, operator-informed support alongside their deal teams.
What sectors does Agentive Capital focus on?
We focus on tech-enabled business services, with particular depth in three sectors: IT value-added resellers (VARs), managed service providers (MSPs), and contact center and customer experience (CX) organizations, including businesses built around platforms such as Genesys, NICE, and Five9.
What size companies does Agentive Capital target?
We target companies headquartered in the United States with revenues between $100M and $1B, typically founder-owned businesses whose owners care deeply about their people, their culture, and their customers.
Where does Agentive Capital operate?
We advise on transactions across the United States, with particular depth in the Southeast: Georgia, the Carolinas, northern Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee. Decades of operating history in the region give us direct, personal relationships with founder-owned technology services businesses.
I own a technology services business. Does speaking with Agentive Capital obligate me to sell?
No. Many of the most valuable conversations we have with owners begin years before any transaction. An introductory discussion is confidential, carries no obligation, and often simply helps an owner understand what their business could be worth and what a well-run process looks like. Our valuation tool is a good starting point, and a conversation can go from there, on your timeline.
How is Agentive Capital different from a private equity firm contacting me directly?
Agentive Capital is an independent advisory firm, not an investment fund. Our principal built, operated, and sold a technology services company himself, and approaches every conversation from that perspective. When we speak with owners, the goal is a well-matched, well-structured outcome, including introductions to the right acquirers, rather than a single firm advocating for its own transaction.
What makes Agentive Capital different from other buy-side advisors?
Lived experience. Our principal, Bill Gregory, has been a founder, a PE-backed executive, and a seller. He co-founded Light Networks, sold it to private equity in 2021, and served as an executive at Verinext, the PE-backed platform formed by the merger of Anexinet and Veristor. That perspective, formed by sitting on every side of the table, is something purely financial advisors cannot replicate.
What services does Agentive Capital provide?
Three core services: deal sourcing and origination (proprietary access to founder-owned targets), diligence and transaction support (hands-on commercial, operational, and technology diligence), and platform and add-on strategy (advisory for roll-up and platform build strategies in tech-enabled services).
How does Agentive Capital source off-market deals?
Through relationships built over decades operating in the sector: at BellSouth, Avaya, Presidio, and as co-founder of a communications and contact center solutions firm. Founder-owned businesses respond to outreach from people who understand their business, which surfaces opportunities that never reach a banker-run process.
How do I request the Agentive Capital capabilities deck?
Use the contact form on this site and check the “Send me the capabilities deck” box, or email info@agentivecapital.com with the subject “Capabilities Deck Request.” We’ll send it to you directly.
How does an engagement with Agentive Capital begin?
With an introductory conversation. If you’re evaluating a deal or building a platform in tech-enabled services, reach out through the contact form or email info@agentivecapital.com. We work with a limited number of clients at a time, so early conversations focus on fit, thesis, and where we can genuinely add value.
